How essential is a college degree in choosing a spouse-to-be?

I’m a girl, currently employed and enjoys quite a sum of money. However, i’m really confused with my present relationship with an undergraduate now. We are planning to get married soon. He’s a college undergraduate who works abroad but with minimal income. Unfortunately, he’s the breadwinner of a family of 13! I’m afraid our combined income in the near future will not be sufficient to sustain our needs. Please help =(
