Help choosing college classes.electives?

hi i am now trying to choose my classes for college (citrus college)…i will be taking a math class..and then another class that is in my field that i want to study its called (fundamentals of informational technology)..in order to grad i also need 17 credits of electives….is an elective considered any class?…for example can i take “PC hardware and maintenance”?…thanks
