It depends on if you want to make the military a career or just a means to pay for college. If you want to make a career of the military, go to college, ROTC, the whole works. Officers need college, and that is the best way to survive on military wages.
However, if you are not sure about what you want to do with your life, a short enlistment, can give you an idea on a career path. It will also broaden your world view and teach you a lot of things that you cannot learn at college.
Straight out of high school, with decent ASVAB scores, I’d go into the military first. Take the GI bill, to pay for school, and if you like the military, you can Always go to school, while in the military. Plus look into programs like Green to Gold, sixty units, and the Army will allow you to take a sabbatical to go to school.

For your mos that is going to give you absolutely love and something like infantry that you get out of course make sure to have very much time or benefit for years minimum so choose your mos that you absolutely love and one might spring up and mos of course make sure.
